Over the last 30 years I have worked in the business support space, where I get most enjoyment from working with individuals and companies where I can make a difference to how they do things, to them personally and to the people they employ.
At home, I love spending time with my family and friends and getting outdoors walking our dog, Poppy as much as possible.
I am exploring the benefits of meditation and mindfulness which I find are helping to give greater balance in my life.
I started my career in 1985 helping young people to start up their own businesses which led to a role setting up an Enterprise Agency in Manchester and ultimately to becoming the Head of Enterprise for the Manchester Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
With the arrival of Training and Enterprise Councils and the Business Link service, I managed two Business Link satellite offices promoting a range of business support services. I built on this expertise by leading a Business Support Team at Salford City Council team where our focus was attracting domestic and international inward investors.
A relocation to the East Midlands led me to join North Nottinghamshire Training & Enterprise Council where I managed an inward investment team and attracted international companies resulting in significant new jobs. From this point I undertook a number of sector and project management roles for the Learning & Skills Council including managing a three year flagship project with NHS East Midlands which led to the delivery of over 26,000 training opportunities including 1,700 apprenticeships.
I then moved into training provider and employer relationship contract management for the Skills Funding Agency. I managed seven training provider contracts with a total contract value of £18M and went on to be the account manager of Employer Ownership contracts which enabled employers to shape their own training, the largest single contract was for £17M.
I then went full circle and returned to my roots by working for the East Midlands Chamber as a Business Development Adviser where I supported 250+ companies of all sizes and across all sectors to develop workforce development plans including the recruitment of apprentices.
In 2016 I decided to harness this wealth of experience to start my own consultancy business where my sole focus is making a real difference to people’s lives through coaching and working with businesses to ensure that individuals and their teams are given the opportunity to achieve the goals and gain the skills, they need to maximise their full potential.
